New Reykjaböð geothermal complex opens in Iceland

From September 1, 2026, Iceland will have a new place to enjoy geothermal waters — Reykjaböð Hot Springs, located at the entrance to Reykjadalur Valley near Hveragerði.

Just around 35 minutes from Reykjavík, its location makes it particularly convenient for travelers exploring the Golden Circle or Iceland’s South Coast.

At the heart of the complex is a geothermal lagoon of around 900 m², along with saunas, cold pools, a Kneipp pool, relaxation areas and additional spa facilities. The geothermal lagoon will be kept at approximately 37–40°C.

Reykjaböð will also feature a Bathhouse, a dedicated wellness area combining experiences based on heat, cold, steam and water.

With the opening of Reykjaböð, Iceland gains another destination that brings together some of the country’s defining features — geothermal energy, nature and bathing in warm water surrounded by a cool Icelandic landscape.

Reykjaböð welcomes its first guests on September 1, and reservations are already open.
