AURORA HUNT

Chasing the Northern Lights

Some things in Iceland can be found on a map. The Aurora has to be chased.

Every evening, we monitor the weather forecast, cloud cover and Aurora activity to choose the direction that gives us the best chance of clear skies. That’s why this tour doesn’t always follow the same route — nature decides where we go.

A Night You’ll Remember for a Long Time

We can’t promise the Aurora will appear, but we can promise the experience of the chase.

The Aurora Borealis is a natural phenomenon, and its appearance cannot be guaranteed. That is part of its magic — you never know exactly when or where it will appear.

We’ll do everything we can: monitor the conditions, find the clearest available skies and take you where the chances are best that night.

DEPARTURE FROM REYKJAVÍK

Departure between 20:00 and 20:30. We leave the city lights behind in our van and head into the Icelandic night.

WE FOLLOW THE SKY

We monitor the weather, cloud cover and Aurora forecast. The route is not predetermined — we go wherever the conditions are best that night.

CHASING THE AURORA

We search for clear skies and places with as little light pollution as possible. If necessary, we change locations during the evening and continue the chase.

RETURN TO REYKJAVÍK

Return is planned for around 01:00, depending on the conditions, location and course of the evening.
